Hair Diseases and Hair Loss is also called as Alopecia. Generally the normal person has 5 million hairs. Hair grows all over your body excluding on your lips, palms and the soles of your feet. It gets about four months for strong hair to develop an inch. Most of the hairs grow for up to six years and then drop out. New hairs grow in their place. Men - and women - lose hair as they grow older. If you have certain illness you can also lose your hair, like thyroid problems, diabetes or lupus. If you had certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you can also reduce your hair. Other reasons are a low protein diet, poor nutrition or a family history.
